This must be the most requested topic on my channel – the comparison between the two most popular 250cc dual sports, the Yamaha WR250R and Honda CRF250L. This led me to the 250cc category and the little Honda and Yamaha are capable, at least on paper, of meeting the criteria. It also feels like a road bike on the road, which is no surprise given the original purpose of the engine was the CBR250R. While the little Honda does weigh more it carries that weight down low. With Honda set to give the CRF250L 1.5hp more and ABS in 2017 will make the decision even harder.
The Honda CRF450X and the Yamaha WR450F are both classics. MX bikes and even cross-country racers are exempt from regulation, but the Yamaha WR450F and the Honda CRF450X, as official off-road vehicles, must meet noise and emission standards. HONDA CRF450XThe original Honda CRF450X had one of the most impressive racing resumes in the off-road world. Initially, it appears to be based on the CRF450R motocross bike that was all new for 2017. Instead of going to a six-speed gearbox, which caused so much work for Honda, Yamaha made a wide-ratio five-speed that fit within the same cases.
