Like V. mandarinia , V. soror constructs large, underground nests of partially enveloped horizontal combs. What is known about V. soror comes from anecdotal observations made in Hong Kong ( 32 ) and studies of predator-prey interactions between V. soror and Apis cerana Fabricius, 1793, in Vietnam ( 33 – 35 ). Studies of V. soror ’s hunting behavior suggest striking similarities with the predation strategy of V. mandarinia ( 33 – 35 ). We develop uniquely customized computational methods to uncover the causal structure within systemic and brain physiologic measures recorded in a neurological intensive care unit after subarachnoid hemorrhage. We explored causal relationships during two predefined time periods or phases: days 0 to 3 after bleed; and days 4 to 7 after bleed. There was no consistent relationship between any of the clusters (or even averaged close clusters) with causal relationships. DiscussionWe identified biologically plausible causal relationships using physiologic data routinely collected after brain injury. We studied causal relationships that occurred over a time frame of up to one hour after generating one minute averages of each variable.
Searching legal databases does not always uncover all of the disputes or court decisions on a given topic. In addition, a more subtle but no less pressing problem is that of the database search query itself. Even though such a dispute may fit squarely into the research population, a database search that is limited to “extraterritorial” or other iterations would miss it. A search in the LEXIS Federal & State Cases, Combined, database (with identical search terms) yielded a total of 1,328 decisions. Not unexpectedly, the search brought up a number of cases where the courts dealt with extraterritoriality in a context different from or unrelated to trademark or unfair competition law.
