When I got my R1200R I used it as a city bike, and also for half-day country blats. Open road: the 650 single is a very competent unit. The BMW luggage is fine (many F650GS rider have Jesse, Touratech or other aftremarket panniers) and really doesn't affect the bike below 140kmh.
