What kind of shock was the original?? Maybe the shock was changed at some point and someone put the spacer, but it was not necessary. ?Original shock (new type)...YSS...48mm spacer...And this is how they should look side to side with the spacer on the YSS... The front does touch the ground more than it should so the back was probably too high like you say. The shock was the same as you showed in the link so more like 380 mm rather than 390.
BGM PRO SPORT Front Shock AbsorberBGM Pro has two high-quality shock absorber series in its product range, the Sport and Competition Line . We believe at Ron Daley's that both the workmanship is perfect and the quality of the item is made to the highest standard. The shock absorbers are very light in spite of their high load capacity, as they are made of high-strength aluminium CNC and unlike a lot of other Shock Absorbers, the outstanding surface protection is long lasting! The front shocks are 15mm shorter than standard shock absorbers and thus lower the front of the vehicle. HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTUnique is the height adjustment for the Vespa PX models, which is only reserved for the SPORT series.
Descriptionthe SIP Performance shock absorbers were also tested at clutch and suspension specialists Sachs (since 2001, ZF Friedrichshafen AG) in Schweinfurt. The test results supported our initial work and the idealistic conception of a Vespa shock absorber. A comprehensive fixings kit for the lower engine fastening is included in the delivery of the SIP Rear Shock Absorber unit. With this second generation 2.0 series, the shock absorbers were primarily designed with the emphasis on touring set ups. Spring preload: The continuously variable spring preload means the shock absorber springs can be given a tighter basic setting – the forces compressing the spring thus meet an early counterforce.
