The mod subculture began with a few cliques of teenage boys with family connections to the garment trade in London in 1958. These early mods were generally middle class, and were obsessed with new fashions and music styles, such as slim-cut Italian suits, modern jazz and rhythm and blues. Originally the term mods was used to describe fans of modern jazz music, as opposed to the trads, fans of traditional jazz. Lesser-known British bands associated with the mod scene include The Action, The Creation, and John's Children. The mods and rockers conflict led to a moral panic about modern youth in Britain.

IMOthe brass bushing mod will improve top speed but make barely the slightest, if any at all, difference in torque. Tyler is right, it does eliminate a couple mm of bushing under the belt, but only half the belt sits on that surface and typically it just wears a crease in the bottom of the vee or teeth of the belt and does not actually force it to sit higher. lighter front variator weights or a stronger contra rear spring will force the bike to stay in lower gear longer which is good for takeoff but will not help standing uphill starts much because the variation is already nill regardless of the weights or contra at that point.... what makes the lighter weights or stronger contra spring useful is having more power with them and hence more power being applied to low gear for longer, especially if you can keep that variation state to null AND have the pipe hitting higher revs powerband ... this is essentially the same kind of circumstances that people try to force into place with "launch levers" on motobecane's except they are already hitting the pipe when they force down the gearing...but in this case, you are already down in the gearing and want to force hit the pipe or at least boost revs a bit while in lower gear... in order to make that happen you need to get more revs even though you are at a slow or standing start uphill and at that point zero-variated.... if you are staying with a stock cylinder, the best way to get there is: slightly lighter custommade or drilled weights and/or slightly stronger contra silver polini spring AND better breathing (12.12 carb with a HIFLOW airbox) and a better than stock pipe w good long header travel for lowend boost and appropriate jet combo (ie a tecno speedy++ or sitoplus pipe and 54-56 jet, or a sito USA and 54-56-58 jet or other plain ol circuit pipe) yes there are lots of much better pipes for hi revs at hi speed but it sounds like you arent worried about going fast as much as you would like to go fast enough uphillagain... jus'sayin' (edited)
