Eventually I got hold of a PX fork with a drum brake and everything on it (except the guard which apparently had been autographed by Manny from the Stone Roses!). Now that I had a shorter fork, I needed a shorter shock as well. This table from a T5 forum has the dimensions:My friend did a conversion with a PX fork and Scoot r s disc setup. I was really pleased with his job, which he charged me $80 for.Now that I had a shorter fork, I needed a shorter shock as well.

I'm running weeks behind though because of problems fitting the forks. The top of the fork column looks to be too high & there is a gap between the headset bottom & top of the frame. Because of this, the headset didn't line up with the notch in the forks and unbelievably I broke THREE whilst tightening them up! The headset bottom can not be lowered as (1) it sits on the locking washer & (2) it wouldn't line up with the notch in the fork stem.
Shortening the shock (shorter shock or raise the mount, or as is often done - both) flattens the swing arm angle. Shortening the fork increases the swing arm angle - allowing you to get back the desired angle (hence do this last). Depends which part you lower.Shortening the shock (shorter shock or raise the mount, or as is often done - both) flattens the swing arm angle. Is the theory.Shortening the fork increases the swing arm angle - allowing you to get back the desired angle (hence do this last). His point was - you don't want to go under 100 degrees - trailing link to front fork angle.
But if it's only a little bit you're looking for it ought to be fine. I've found it wasn't very expensive to get a professional welder to cut it down. My guy preferred to cut and sleeve internally, but cutting through the weld of the lower 'knuckle' leaves the internal plug part intact, ready to weld back into your shorter fork. Here you go.As Roland says, you can use a shorter shock to lower it, but apparently handling suffers as the swing arm gets flatter. The central part has been designed with modern 3D CAD. It is made using shaped precision casting and afterward it is worked using sophisticated 5-axle CNC machines. Some shims are supplied to low the front axle and achieve different settings. The total weight is 1.1 kgs over the original one. The scooter-driver’s barycenter has a more comfortable position and it avoids excessive sealings on the scooters.
Piaggio Vespa PX Fork Assembly 20mm (1984-Onwards)The Vespa Forks have changed significantly over the years, from the first Super model to the first Disc Model. The Genuine Forks are now only supplied with 1 hole to incorporate the speedo cable (no front brake hole allocated, hole can be drilled to fit Front Brake Cable), while the Brake hose is fitted around rather than inside of the fork arm. This is a 20mm Fork link and is only supplied for the later P-Range. (Supplied without ALL Bearings and races must be bought seperatly)20mm fork linkgrey primerComparison Part No. 5640715 (PIAGGIO)
Fork - steering tube - steering tube -OEM QUALITY- Vespa PX oldThe steering tube is manufactured by the former OEM Piaggio manufacturer Prediere & Abbate. Of course, the aftermarket disc brakes for the Ø16mm axle type will also fit. UPGRADE YEARS 1977-1982The Lusso fork has a thicker tube than the fork of the Vespa PX old (1977-1982). Easier is the use of the series 'hermaphrodite fork' called steering tube type of the years 1982-1984. These havealso already the thick steering tube and a 20mm axle, but still the old steering lock type (slot).
